Samsung’s new range of QLED 8K TVs promises to turn ordinary days into extraordinary discoveries, but what does that really mean for you and your pursuit of viewing pleasure?
Firstly, what is a QLED TV?
Similar in design to LCD screens, QLED televisions use Quantum Display Dots, tiny particles which, when hit by a beam of light, emit their own different shade of light. This is then filtered through a number of layers, including a liquid crystal layer, which blend the light together inside of the screen to produce an image. What makes Quantum Display Dots special is their ability to withstand the test of time without degrading.
To power this technology, QLED screens rely on a processing unit similar to the one found in your PC. The new range from Samsung features their new improved Quantum Processor, with A.I. technology to upscale whatever you are watching to real 8K resolution. It will also take care of adjusting the screen brightness and sound levels to match your environment so that you never need to reach for the remote halfway through your movie.
To top it all off, the range also includes a feature called Quantum HDR 32X which adapts the screen brightness pixel by pixel in real time, rendering each scene the way that the movie director intended you to see it.
