From the Apollo 11 moon landing to the 1994 Rugby World Cup Final, television has allowed us to share in incredible moments in history firsthand. From the news bulletins to the weather forecast, we plan our everyday lives around the TV guide, making extra sure to tune in for our daily catch up with our favourite soapies and sitcoms.

Over time the screens we watched started getting bigger and better. The bulky, boxy old CRT (cathode-ray tube) TVs made way for more slimmer LCD (liquid crystal display) flat screens which provided better image quality, higher definition, and clearer detail, all-in-all making for a more immersive viewing experience.

In 2021, TV technology made another giant leap forward when Samsung launched its Neo QLED TV range.

Neo QLED, is the latest evolution of Samsung’s QLED displays which make use of quantum dot technology. This new generation of TV screens, available in 4K and 8K resolutions, uses tens of thousands of tiny mini LED lights which are precisely controlled by the powerful Neo Quantum Processor. This allows them to produce superb images with unparalleled brightness and rich, vibrant colours.

By reducing the size of the LED lighting, and instead using many more of the smaller mini LED lights, Neo QLED technology is able to isolate very specific areas of the screen to brighten or darken as necessary, providing a more immersive HDR than before. With the Neo QLED range you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite shows and movies the way they were meant to be seen, or get the best view of your favourite sporting action, with every detail clearly visible.

Of course the upgrades don’t only include image quality. Equally as important in creating an immersive viewing experience is sound quality. The Neo QLED range also features Object Tracking Sound Pro technology, which actively tracks movement on the screen, to render directional audio with pinpoint precision, making you feel like you’re in the very centre of the action.

Gamers will also appreciate the Neo QLED range’s impressive input latency of just 5.8ms, as well as support for FreeSync Premium Pro to prevent screen tearing (which is when the frame being displayed on your screen doesn’t match the frame being rendered by your console resulting in strips of multiple frames being displayed at the same time) and providing the smoothest gaming experience possible.
