The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women marked the launch of the UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign (Nov 25- Dec 10) — an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (10 December).
Expert Cares recognised the desperate need to support, protect and stand in solidarity with our women and children of South Africa and across the world, too many of whom are silent victims, especially in these trying times.
After the successful 16 Days of Activism campaign we participated in last year, this year we chose to show our support again by partnering with UN Women and pledged to donate to their nominated partner organisation, Bombani Shelter for Abused Women in Alexandra.
Today we handed over a cheque of R4950 as well as some much needed appliances for the shelter, to support the women and children in their care.
Bombani can house 30 women with their children but due to COVID-19, they are restricted with the amount of women they can house but that hasn’t stopped them. Powerful women supporting women and the community around them. They are the only shelter for abused women in Alexandra and rely on support from people and organisations to do what they are needed to do.
Join us in standing against the violence and help us spread awareness of the desperate need for funding faced by the organisations that focus on prevention and protection of women and children, not only during awareness campaigns but always because #ExpertCares.
